Hi there! It has been a while now, but I haven’t been able to motivate myself : )). After work, you just don’t want to sit at the computer again, and at the weekend I have been out. So what happend in the last 10 days?

The first two weeks of work passed by really quikly and it already has become kind of a daily routine. I get up at 7:45 eat something, pick up a coffe on the way to the bus staition, have a 40 min busride, start working on 9:30 (or depending on when my bus arrives : )) ), have a great lunch arround 1pm (ahh, I eat so much delicious food, the take me to turkisch, indian, greek etc. restraunts and its soo soo good, the best of the whole day), finsih arround 6, busride home and all starts over again the next day.

But I do enjoy this. I like the work, although it is in a slightly crazy environment (and its true when they write it on their own website). So there is a lot of space for beeing silly and haveing fun. Regarding the work I’m doing there, I’m also satisfied. I already was allowed to design a brochure for a retailer which is going to be printed 70.000 times. *yeayyy* I’m also redesigning the company’s website, modifying and designing an onlineshop based on Zen Cart, doing some flash and the best: I was anounced to the project manager/marketing of the agency. Which means that I’m responsible for the ongoing of the marketing related activities. This is quite cool, because I am able to bring in a lot of ideas, which may be realized.

Concerning my life here, I can say, that it is still cold. It might not be really cold, but I’m freezing all the time and due to that I’ve got a cold now : ((. The weekend is ahead of me, so I’m starting to browse the web for activities I can do in the next two days. Hopefully I find something cool. This is London here, there must be something : )).

Btw. there is a really funny TV-add arround here. Have a look:

Compare the Meerkat

take care

uhhh, its freezing cold out there, rain and heavy wind. *brrrr* … Our room is really really cold too. The radiator is running on the highest setting but it won’t get much warmer. I think its because of alle the tiny, invisible gaps in the walls and it isn’t isolated at all. *brrr* again … Mike (my boss) told me that it might snow again … *morebrrrr* We’ll see.

Hi there!

So what was I up to in the last couple of days? Lets see. On Friday there should have been a poker game with my future colleagues from work, but unfortunately my bosses mum got sick and hat to go to hospital. So it was posponed to next Friday. However, Friday was a lovely day, very sunny and really warm. So Sonja and me decided to go for a walk in the neighbourhood and to visit the local lake (witch would have been easier reached by tube ; )) )

On Saturday we went on kind of a sight-seeing-tour into town. Green Park - Buckingham Palace - London Bridge - London Eye (we just took photos) - Leicster Square - Picadilly Circus and back home. We planned to also go to the cinema but were to late then. All tickets were sold out. But while searching for a cinema, we dropped into a really weird gaming centre. It felt like Japan. All the young chineese and japan-guys sitting in front of their consoles (the old ones), very dusty air and really low ceilings. It was an intresting experience. Finally we gave up and decided to see the movie on Sunday, what we did. In a very very tiny screening room of the cinema called “Odeon” on Leicster Square. Really small seats, but we enjoyed the new Sean Penn movie (Milk) although.

And here we are. The first day at work. I was 20 minutes to early but thats just fine for an intern, as far as i know. The day was fine and I also was pronounced to the “project manager” of the agency, which means that I am in charge of the forthcoming of the recent projects. But more on that maybe later.

Regarding my shared home: Someone drank our bottle of wine : ( … but I already found out who it was ; ) …

It has been a while since my last post into my blog. But days are passing by so quikley.

It’s barely a week since we (me and sonja) moved into our room here in Kingsbury and it feels a little bit more like home now. Our Landlord also provided us a small radiator so we don’t have to freeze anymore. It had been really cold over the last few days. There is gas heating in the house but it takes really really long until the warmth is climbing up to the second floor. However, the radiator takes a lot of power which means that you can’t use the hair dryer and the radiator at the same time. The fuse will jump out.

We spent the whole Tuesday on shopping in the Baker Street which was quite fun and a little exhousting. I was allowed to play “shopping cart” for sonja ; )). But I had my fun as well. In addition I safed 11 Pounds at the H&M due to a wrong usage of the -50% button of the sales man. Yeayyyy!!

On Wednesday a 2 hour handshake with my future boss followed, which I enyojed really much. I got to know the guys working there and had already seen my workstation. I think I will enjoy my time there and will also be able to learn a lot. It’s a one of the smaler agencies but because of that it is more likely to do real work and learn something, instead of meaking coffee and cleaning up. Well, for tomorrow I am already invited to the monthly poker game at a local pub. I’m looking forward to it.
The handshake was followed by another short visit in Baker Street.

Today was quite a lazy day or so. Sonja woke me up at 8am because she had a meeting with her work. When she was out of the house I keept sleeping until 11am which was nice. Followed by a 3 hour shopping trip to a huge supermarket in Wembley (which is one Tube Station away from Kingsbury), a great lunch with bacon, saussages, an egg and some rice and vegetables.

Huch, such a blog entry takes really long. Have a good night.

Finally I found some time to follow up my last post.

All in all, we spent the last two days in the local IKEA searching for nice stuff to decorate our room with. We also had to buy a blanket, bed sheets, pillows and all the stuff which is needed to have a cosy night. If you keep the fact in mind, that we might stay for only 3 month its a bit silly to spend money on theses things (what to do with all this after the placement?), but its worth it. The room is much more friendly now and already feels like home. Furthermore we spend some money on lights and carpets and some decorational elements. 100 Pounds alltogether but its worth it.

The house mates are okay as well. Two or three Lithuanian guys, 3 British and one African.

Have I already mentioned the Indian-District? Yeah, its true. The room/house is located within an Indian-District, but it is nice. Fresh fruits and vegtables everywhere, butchers and all sorts of tiny shops. It is really great, you can find anything you want in the near neighbourhood.

Besides, what is really great about London: Local shops (Tesco) are open from 7am to 11pm every day, and all the shopping centres are open on Saturdays (long hours, until 11pm) and Sundays as well. I love it.

So what are you up to?

The last two days were very busy crawling through the internet and looking for suitable rooms to stay, setting up appointments for viewings and traveling through whole London. But it already payed off. Yesterday evening we stumbled over a very nice room located in Kingsbury. Nice price. Nice Landlord. Nice House (with garden, all very clean an new). This could be it. We will meet again today to fix the details.

The house

This could be our new home. Room is in the 2nd
floor. Window to the back.

All in all our start in London was really good, and we were really lucky to find such a good place within such a short time. Btw. if you also seeking a room or a new home i would strongly recommend Craigslist. There is a lot to find.

cheers!

Yeayyy. Finally.

I finally finished to edit the Blog-Theme the way I want to. Now I can worry about the 15kg package limit on Ryanair-flights again. Just don’t want to pay 15€ for one extra kg.

However. Today 8:10 pm I will be on my way to London. *hurray*
